HP MSA STORAGE


SANs are essential to fully realize the benefits of a virtualized infrastructure. This shared storage enables High Availability and Live Migration/VMotion functionality. Direct Attached Storage provides large volume storage for VM backup and other large storage requirements. GCS assists with the design, installation and support of Storage Area Networks.


The HP MSA (Modular Smart Array) offers a wide array of configurations for entry level SAN and advanced Direct Attached Storage applications.

Direct Attached Storage (DAS)

The HP MSA line offers several models to connect large amounts of storage to servers with SCSI or SAS. As many as 25 2.5" drives may be used. Models are available that support 3.5" drives at a lower cost per GB. The MSA 50, 60, and 70 are great devices to provide disk backup for virtualized environments. These devices can be stacked to support storage requirements into the dozens of TBs. They are supported on most ProLiant servers.

Storage Attached Networks (SAN)

The HP MSA line offers iSCSI and Fibre Channel SANs in single or dual controller configurations. These options enable virtualization features such as Live Migration/VMotion, High Availability and Fault Tolerance. The HP MSA 2012i G2 is a excellent entry point for organizations virtualizing on a strict budget. It supports up to 29.7TB with SAS hard drives or 60TB of SATA hard drives. Up to 32 VM hosts can attach to a 2012i. Mix and match SAS and SATA hard drives for highly cost efficient configurations.

Software

HP StorageWorks 2000 Modular Smart Array Snapshot Software enables snapshots of SAN storage. These are far superior to snapshots offered in Hyper-V or VSphere.

HP StorageWorks Storage Mirroring Software provides host-based, continuous replication for customers seeking a low-cost alternative to fabric or array-based replication. Patented replication and failover technology continuously captures byte-level data changes as they happen and replicates those changes to one or more target servers at any location without geographic limitations. By replicating only the bytes that change, Storage Mirroring Software uses the absolute minimum bandwidth on your existing LAN or WAN to replicate your data.
