Network Technician - Level 2 is a position that provides Tier 2 support services for GCS' Managed Services and Flex Services (Hourly Support) offerings. Level 2 technicians are expected to have and maintain a high level of technical competence over a very large range of products. They will be expected to learn new products and technologies quickly and constantly. In addition, they are expected to have top notch communication skills. This is not your typical corporate helpdesk. We support hundreds of organizations and thousands of end users in an extremely variable environment.
Job Duties:
- Provide remote Tier 2 technical support to clients
- Provide on-site technical support to customers as needed.
- Assist Network Engineers, Project Technical Leads, and Project Managers with various project implementation tasks, both in-office and on-site.
- Assist Tier 1 technical support representatives with technical issues.
- Assist the Director of Technology with new product testing and implementation.
- Work to improve personal technical knowledge and abilities at the direction of the Director of Technology. This includes attending training, obtaining certifications, and generally keeping up with the latest technology.
- Provide internal helpdesk and network support.
Technical Knowledge:
Candidates are expected to immediately have the knowledge and experience to support most of the following technologies:
- Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2008 R2 (Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter, Storage Server, and Small Business Server)
- All Windows desktop versions. Mac/Linux is helpful but not required.
- Common Desktop Applications (Office, etc.)
- Common Networking/Internet Services (DHCP, DNS, Domain Registration, etc.)
- Microsoft Exchange (2003, 2007, 2010).
- Symantec Backup Exec, Acronis, and Microsoft Data Protection Manager (all recent versions)
- Virtualization Technologies (VMWare, Hyper-V)
- Advanced Networking (Routing, Switching, Firewalls. Specifically Cisco, Sonicwall, HP)
- Terminal Services/Remote Desktop Services
- Microsoft SQL 2005, 2008
- VoIP & Digital Phone Systems (Avaya IP Office preferred)
Certifications:
Candidates will be certified by Microsoft. Preference is given to well certified individuals.
Experience:
Three to five years experience in similar positions is required.
Education:
Degrees are valued but not required. We prefer experience and certifications.
